For the first time, Synergic Partners will hold the conference “Women in Data Science” from Stanford University. Madrid will welcome the first edition of this event on February 3 in the Auditorio Wayra at Fundacion Telefonica (Gran Via, 28).
Organized by Stanford University (California), “Women in Data Science” (WiDS) seeks to inspire and train data scientists in addition to supporting women in the field. The event is held in more than 50 cities around the world, including New York, Paris, Berlin, Sao Paulo, Bogota, Beirut and Singapore, among others.
The day-long conference will provide opportunities to see the latest data science research, to learn how leading companies are taking advantage of big data, and to connect with potential mentors and possible collaborators.
The prestigious California university has chosen Carme Artigas to be WiDS’s ambassador in Spain. Artigas, co-founder of Synergic Partners, will be in charge of inaugurating this first edition and will also participate as a speaker with “Beyond Data Science” and as a moderator for one of the round table discussions.
“As ambassador of WiDS Madrid, I want to promote awareness of the discipline of data science and to show its impact in transforming not just various economic sectors but societal ones as well. In addition, I am committed to raising awareness to the fact that, in this context of transformation, women must have a voice,” stated Artigas.
The program will feature speeches by leaders in various areas, including Amparo Alonso, head of the Artificial Intelligence Development and Research Laboratory, Angela Shen-Hsieh, Product Innovation at Telefonica Research and Development, Rosa Maria Sanz, Director of Human Resources at Gas Natural, among others.
