Thursday, November 13, at 12.15 pm (Barcelona City Hall, Plaça Sant Miquel s/n), the deputy mayor of Economy, Enterprise and Employment, Sònia Recasens, will preside over the act of presentation of the Strata + Hadoop World, the worldwide reference event for Big Data and Data Science which is going to be held in Barcelona November 19-21.
The Catalan capital will welcome for the first time the internationally renowned conference, co-presented by O’Reilly Media and Cloudera, which holds three annual editions: two in the United States (San José and New York) and one in Europe, which, until now, has been held in London. Thus, Barcelona will become the capital of big data, uniting the international community of experts in the field, as well as the major specialist players in the new field of data science. Analysts estimate that the big data sector will create 4.4 million jobs worldwide over the next four years and that its use will grow 304% in Spain over the next two years.
Roger Magoulas, O’Reilly Media’s chair for Strata + Hadoop World, and Carme Artigas, co-founding partner of Synergic Partners, the Spanish consulting firm that is supporting the event, will also participate in the press conference.
